UTAH – A good September morning in the mountains is when you wake up to snow on the ground. Maybe that’s just my skier mind talking, but I believe that wholeheartedly. We’ve seen a bit of snow on the resorts here in Colorado, but Utah was yet to wake up to a dusting. Until this morning, that is. Alta, Brighton, Snowbird, and Solitude all woke up to a little dusting of snow this morning (September 17), and we can’t act like that isn’t extremely exciting.
“Leaves are starting to change color throughout Little Cottonwood Canyon and this morning the first snow of the season touched down on Hidden Peak, building excitement for winter. Snowbird’s projected Opening Day is November 28, 2024, conditions permitting, and we can’t wait to see you!.” – Snowbird Mountain Report
Not only did some of these mountains wake up to snow on the ground, some were still seeing snow fall near their peaks into the morning. At Brighton Resort, snow was still visibly falling on their Great Western live cam at 9:30am. Meanwhile, at the same time on Snowbird’s Hidden Peak webcam, the view was filled with white, distant object just barely visible.
Snowbird is currently scheduled to open on November 28, if conditions allow, while Alta is scheduled for November 22. Both Brighton and Solitude are yet to set their opening days for the 2024/25 ski season, but with early snow, hopefully that means early skiing!
