BRITISH COLUMBIA – The Rocky Mountains have been getting their fair share of snow over the past few weeks (fair share for September, no massive storms yet), but now the snowy storm systems are headed north and west, bringing weather to the Pacific Northwest and some potential snow accumulation at high elevations in British Columbia. Meteorologist Chris Tomer is forecasting just a bit of snowfall throughout the next ten days.

As both a passionate skier and trail runner, Chris Tomer brings his love for mountain recreation into his forecasts, helping skiers and snowboarders plan their powder days across North America. He’s been in mountain meteorology consulting for around 20 years, consulting for expeditions to all 14 of the world’s highest peaks.

Based on Tomer’s forecast, the Rocky Mountains are looking and fairly mundane weather over the next 10 days. But in the Pacific Northwest and British Columbia, things are starting to look a little bit more exciting. No major snowfall accumulation is expected, but Whistler Blackcomb and other Canadian ski areas could see around an inch at the highest elevations. The rain/snow line is pretty high, around 6,000 feet on the coast of B.C. and around 9,000-10,000 feet in interior B.C.. But it’s snow, and hopefully it’s just a hint of what’s to come!
