North Carolina — This past weekend, the remnants of Hurricane Helene slammed through the Southeast. Transitioning into a Tropical Storm, Helene dropped many inches of rain across North Carolina. Helene’s heavy rain and winds led to extensive damage, mudslides, and flooding, most notably in Asheville.
North Carolina has a decently sized ski industry, and it appears that it is facing some storm damage. Sugar Mountain Resort shared a video of the damage they and the local community are facing, with flooding, downed trees, and damaged signs among the notable scenes. The damage to the trails and lifts at Sugar Mountain Resort is uncertain.
On Sunday, Beech Mountain Resort provided a statement regarding Helene. The North Carolina ski resort is dealing with some damage but held up “relatively well” overall.

Hatley Pointe, which has been undergoing extensive renovations, is reporting minimal damage from the storm. They’re helping neighbors clean up and expect to reopen at the end of November.
Catalooche Ski Area is reporting minimal damage and is providing “their available resources to families in need.”
Appalachian Ski Mountain announced on Wednesday that they are dealing with minimal damage and are assisting the local community.
The amount of damage to Ski Sapphire Valley is unknown.
