COLORADO – If you live in Colorado, you’ve probably heard about the storm set to hit this weekend. For folks in Denver, the storm will likely mean a lot of rain. For folks in the mountains, it could mean a lot of snow. Meteorologist Chris Tomer is forecasting some potentially massive totals at the state’s highest peaks, with 10-20 inches of snowfall possible.

Chris Tomer is both a passionate skier and trail runner, but his love for the mountains extends beyond activity. He’s been a mountain meteorology consultant for around 20 years, working with several expeditions in the world’s highest mountains, including all 14 of the 8,000 meter peaks that exist throughout the world. His passion shines through in his mountain weather forecasts, keeping you and me as updated as possible on potential future powder days.

According to Tomer’s forecast, Saturday afternoon/evening will mark the start of the storm for much of Colorado. Rain will fall on most of the state, while the highest altitudes will likely start seeing snow. Sunday morning is when the party really gets going, as snow is likely anywhere above 9,500 feet. Yet another storm system will roll through the Rocky Mountains through early next week, but that will only bring snow to the highest elevations, if at all. Though it’s very far out, another storm system looks to be developing for the Rocky Mountains around next weekend, as well.
