UNITED STATES – We’re starting to see more and more snowfall across the mountains of the United States, with parts of Colorado getting a fair few inches through this past weekend’s storm. But we’re only in the first few days of fall, and forecasting what the 2024/25 winter will look like remains incredibly difficult. But nonetheless, Direct Weather continues to release updated winter forecasts. As always, forecasts can change especially when they’re this far out, but it’s still good to know.
If Direct Weather’s forecasts come true, we could be looking at a very healthy ski and snowboard season across most of the United States. When it comes to temperatures, the far southwest (Arizona, Nevada, California) could be looking at a decently above average winter, while the rest of the western United States (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, northern Nevada, western Colorado), could see a slightly above average winter. On the opposite end of the spectrum sits essentially the entire eastern United States.
Snowfall wise, things look like they could be really good for parts of Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming, while a significant portion of the southwest is looking at a potential for less-then-stellar snowfall throughout the winter. The East Coast is also looking at a forecast with plenty of snowfall, with Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts falling into the “huge snowstorms” category.
